"It has been over 460 years since the first Africans destined for North America, to be made slaves, were torn from their homeland and brought to these shores in chains (in 1555). If the evils that our Ancestors suffered at that time, and have suffered since then, were not a matter of historical record, they would be unimaginable…unbelievable. In fact, some, in light of that history, consider it a “miracle” that we are still here after such terrible treatment, over such an extended period of time…even to the present. Nevertheless, Our Experience has left a deep scar in the psyche of the Black People of America.
"Naturally, human beings who are Created in the Nature of God (Righteousness, Peace) could not experience such trauma without Our Perception of Reality (including that of God and Self) being scarred or damaged. Even today, our communities, our homes, our bodies and our very Souls bear the unmistakable and undeniable scars of oppression and self-hatred. Not only are we the victims of an oppressive society - victims of aggression, victims of exploitation, victims of neglect, victims of hatred, victims of apathy - but we are now the number one victimizers of one another. The damage that has been done to us is so great that even the architects and perpetuators of our suffering do not have the wisdom, the insight, nor the Will to undo what they have done.
"In other words, we have been so destroyed, and our condition has so deteriorated, that not even those who put Us in this condition have the means to deliver Us from this condition.
"They do not have the Means ...nor the Will... to give us Justice.
"WHO, then, should We Look to? WHERE will JUSTICE come from?"
